Nothing. đ
Iâm going to say something that most women over 40 donât hear enough:
Youâre allowed to live your life.
This past weekend, I was at the Broadmoor, celebrating Lars’s 2025 real estate success with the rest of the top Coldwell Banker Colorado agents. It definitely wasnât a âmeal prep, hit my macros perfectly, no alcoholâ kind of weekend (which is pretty much normal around here).
It looked more like:
đ„Drinks at dinner (yes, that’s plural)
đ°Desserts I didnât track
đœïžMeals I wouldnât normally eat during a training week (can you say chicken fingers??!!)
đ€ȘLess structure, more spontaneity
And at one point, I caught myself thinking: âOkay, we might need a redo after this.â
Sound familiar? đ€ I know Iâm not the only one who has had that thought after a weekend like this.
The Old Pattern (That Keeps So Many Women Stuck)
For years, especially as hormones start to shift, this is the cycle I’ve fallen into (and the one I’ve seen so many friends fall into as well):
Youâre âonâ during the week
Youâre disciplined
Youâre hitting your workouts
Youâre eating clean
Then the weekend comesâŠ
And everything loosens up.
But what happens next is the problem:
You feel like you âblew itâ
So Monday becomes a restart: You feel guilty so you eat less. You add more cardio. You try to âmake up for it.” Don’t deny it; I see you shaking your head “yep…” đ«
And that cycle repeats.
Hereâs the Truth Most People Miss
Itâs not the weekend thatâs holding you back. Itâs the reaction to the weekend. Read that again, please.
Because when you under-eat after a fun weekend, and then overtrain to try to compensate, what happens?? You get stressed out, which spikes your cortisol. You’ve heard me talk about cortisol before. It’s not your enemy, but it will hurt you if you don’t pay attention to it.
So, in short, youâre creating the exact environment that makes fat loss harder after 40, especially if you’re already training hard as an endurance athlete.
What Actually Happened
Let me be very clear.
After this weekend, I didnât gain noticeable fat. My work clothes still fit on Monday morning. I didnât lose muscle. And I didnât undo months of progress
Why? Because my foundation is solid.
Iâve built:
- consistent strength training
- adequate protein intake
- proper fueling (not restriction)
- metabolic flexibility
So my body can handle a weekend like that.
Yours can too.
What I Did Instead of âStarting Overâ
I didnât detox. I didnât slash calories. I didnât punish myself with extra workouts.
I simply went back to what I normally do:
â Hit my protein targets
â Got back into my regular training rhythm
â Hydrated with more electrolytes
â Focused on sleep
Thatâs it. No drama. No extremes. Just consistency.
The goal isnât perfection. Itâs building a body that can handle real life. Because if your plan only works when everything is perfectâŠ
It doesnât work.
If This Sounds Like YouâŠ
If you feel like youâre constantly:
- starting over on Mondays
- stuck in the restrict â overdo â repeat cycle
- frustrated that your body isnât responding the way it used to
Youâre not broken. You just need a better strategy. One that actually works with your body now.
Final Thought
That Broadmoor weekend? It wasnât a setback. It was proof that what Iâm doing works.
Because I can enjoy my life, and still feel strong, energized, and in control. And thatâs exactly what I want for you. â€ïž
If youâre ready to stop the all-or-nothing cycle and actually build something sustainable… My next round will be in April (exact date still TBD).
Iâll be sharing more soon. But if you want early access, just reach out or keep an eye on your inbox.
